Tana and John were chaperones for our church’s youth group. When I was waaay younger, they selflessly volunteered their hours there. We lost touch over the years but I was really happy when Tana approached me to do their family portraits. Since then, they married and have increased their family size with 4 awesome boys. They had asked me if I wanted to meet them at the park or go with them in a family van. I was really glad to have hopped into their family van, because It was so fulfilling for my soul to be a part of their family for a day. At the park, I got to play with leaves that were turning their colors, climbed trees, played with sticks and stones. This family is full of joy, full of life, and it is special for me.
This engagement session was shot in the first few weeks of autumn, and we met on a Monday after the time change. It was an overcast day all through out, but as we met up, the skies opened, and presented us with a beautiful sunset. One thing I could never forget about them is that the fact that they rode their bikes down to the pier (It’s not every day that couples rode their bikes to meet with me for an engagement session). They met each other because both of their families are good friends, as they told me that their wedding will be like a “big family reunion”. I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in the summer of 2014, and I better pack a lot of kleenex in my gear.
